The Leith is the main river flowing through Edinburgh, Scotland, to a port where it flows into the sea via the Firth of Forth. The Water of Leith Walkway is a 13 mile walk through Edinburgh following the course of the Leith river to it's end. We walked an approximately 3.5 mile section from the neighborhood of Stockbridge (down the street from our flat) to the Port of Leith. It was a lovely path that went alongside the river, crossing it and sometimes diverting temporarily onto nearby streets. We saw heron, white swans, ducks and even feuding cats. It was incredibly pleasant (if chilly) and a wonderful way to spend a Sunday afternoon. It was also typical Edinburgh that at the end, we easily hopped a bus for a bus ride nearly directly home.
