Arrival in Morocco!

I dropped Christine and the kids off at the Strasbourg Airport and went to drop the our car off back at the city train station to avoid the 150 Euro dropoff charge. There were supposed to be trains to the airport every 30 minutes, but it turned out that I was going to have to wait close to 2 hours to get to the airport, due to the fact that the rail workers were striking in front of the station. Thank goodness Uber drivers hadn't gone on strike yet in France. Oh wait - the Uber drivers are happy to have work!

The flight to Morocco was uneventful and we arrived to a beautiful modern ariport.
We were picked up by a cab and once we got close inside the Medina or old city of Marrakesh (or Marrakech), our luggage got loaded into a hand cart and was taken to our Riad, where we were served warm mint tea and got settled into our room for the evening.

Here are the boys in Marrakech.

  1. intrepid follower of the Carta journey wonders how a family of 6 gets from the France/German border to the center of Morocco? That looks and sounds like a haul.

  2. Actually, the cheapest tickets from Strasbourg on Jan 4 were to Marrakech. Even adding luggage and a noodle dinner the total was €474.
