First stop is Costco, of course!

Costco Looks The Same, Wherever You Go!
We had two hours before we were meeting the landlord of the flat we had rented in Edinburgh for six weeks. So of course, it was time for a Costco run! Not knowing the size of the fridge (likely small), we couldn't plan to buy too much, but pantry items are always a good value and we love to see what different Costcos have! More importantly, we are returning the rental car tonight so we had to make use of it now - shopping for 6 doesn't sound fun when you have to walk to and from the store for everything!

Dave thought it was funny that the entrance for the Costco was on the left and exit on the right. Aren't entrances always the other way in the US?

Where do we go in?
We had some essentials worth buying: laundry detergent, toilet paper, a warm vest for Christine, a rolling duffel bag to replace a suitcase with broken wheels, pasta, cereal, milk (you can stock up on the unrefrigerated ultrapasteurized over here!) and granola bars. They have the exact pizzas that they have back home and unfortunately, the new style strawberry smoothie as well.

We had some fun things we got to pick up: a 24 beer "Advent" calendar with beers from all over the world, a few bottles of wine, and an Avengers comic book for all five of the boys.

We also found some unique items: half-baked baguettes that could stay on the shelf until you finish in the oven! And delicious smelly cheeses - but different smelly from the ones they had in San Diego - although they did have another 5 cheese selection that the San Diego Costco had as well. The combination of the bake your own baguettes and the yummy cheeses were a hit for the next two days for the boys.

They could not take back Dave's pants (trousers folks!) that had the defective belt clip, because the backend systems were apparently not linked - as opposed to Canada, where they were. And you cannot use your Costco Visa in the store, because in the UK, Costcos only accept AMEX. Awkward.

Now it's time to fill up on Costco diesel! Funny thing, they measure distances here by the mile and speed limits in MPH, but gas was £1.27 per litre. We're totally unclear as to how they measure volume per distance here.
